I'm happy to announce that, with the help of a very good friend, I just had my very first opening show for my paintings at a local chocolate shop last night!
After several years of putting my art on the back burner, focusing on other things, thinking, "I'll do some art when I have time," this show felt like the culmination of a decision I made a few years back to refuse to live my life without art at its center. I have talked to other artists who have gone through the same thing, never seeming to find the time for their art, getting worn down by the day to day demands of life and work. So, for anyone out there who can't seem to find the time or energy, remember that as artists, creating is what gives us energy and makes our lives complete. And if you make the time, but still can't pick up the pencil or brush for fear of what others may think, remember that the art we make is a part of ourselves and for that, we should never be ashamed. So do it.
